SABS Auditing

An audit is an activity that companies conduct to evaluate, confirm and verify processes related to the quality, security and safety of products and services so that companies are able to ensure the management system has been effectively implemented

What is an Internal / 1st Party Audit

  • An organisation auditing its own systems, a self-assessment
  • Used to measure the strengths & weaknesses against requirements, and its own standards

What is an External / 2nd Party Audit

  • Also known as Supplier Auditing - comprehensive evaluation performed by a customer to ensure that supplier is operating under a state of control
  • One organisation auditing another with which it has, or is going to have, a contract or agreement for the supply of goods or services

What is an Internal / 3rd Party Audit

  • Audit carried out by a certification body independent of the client and the user, for the purpose of certifying the client’s management system
